Class Syllabus: Physical Education - Mr. Pillon
All students are expected to be on time to class, dress out and participate daily. In addition, they are required to positively interact with their peers and to be responsible for their own work and actions.
Grading-There are 4 categories for which grades will be recorded;
1. Fitness tests(25%) 1/2 mile, mile, curlups, pushups, pacer, fitness lap (at least one per trimester)
2. Written tests(25%) 1 for each unit of study either in class or take home.
3. Work Habits/ Citizenship(25%) skills, participation, effort, and borrowing P.E. clothes (which affect grade with negative points )
4. Homework/ Classwork (25%) worksheets, push-up and sit-up homework,
All grades are equal. They are each added, subtotaled and divided by the number of grades to come up with the final average score for class. Missing work is calculated as a zero and averaged into the final grade.
If student is absent for a test or graded activity they must makeup that assignment. Otherwise that missing work is calculated as a zero and averaged in like all other work.

LOANERS
P.E. students may borrow clothes from the P.E. teachers when necessary. However, loaners are intended to provide the p.e. uniform to students who have a good reason or unusual circumstances for requiring them. They are not meant to be used daily/weekly to support students who are not being responsible for themselves. Students should not take advantage of this loaner privilege. Students abusing this privilege will receive the following consequences:
PHYSICAL EDUCATION DISCIPLINE POLICY
1st offense - warning (standards may be used)
2nd offense- 5 to 10 minute time-out (standards may be used)
3rd offense – Buddy Room, parents called (RED FOLDER)
4th offense - referral to administration
Severe offense- (directly to administration) defiance, 2nd non-suit or more,
threatening or attempting physical bodily harm, harassment / bullying.
CLASS RULES
-Students report to class (roll spots) on time and in uniform
-Each student must attend class daily. Points are deducted for absences.
- Students must participate to earn a grade.
- Attitude, behavior, and citizenship are also part of the overall grade.
- Follow directions and procedures; participate in class discussions and activities.
- Keep hands, feet, and objects to self (respect yourself and others)
- No profanity
- A doctor’s note is required to be excused from participation in P.E. if the excuse is more than three days.
- Student is still required to dress for P.E. when on medical excuse.
- Girl’s menstruation is not an excuse unless a doctor’s note is provided.
- No Aerosol Sprays such as AXE, Old Spice, Body Spray
- NO CELL PHONES OR ELECTRONIC DEVICES *
LOCKER ROOM PROCEDURES
- Enter the locker room quietly with adult supervision, change quickly, LOCK YOUR LOCKER, and sit on roll spots.
- After dismissal return quickly to the locker room, change, and wait patiently for the dismissal bell before returning to your classroom.
- No food, gum, or drink in the locker room or during P.E.
